Rodger Dale O'Bryant, 77, of Northport, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home on August 14, 2025.

He was born on September 14, 1948, to Luther Roscoe and Mary Esther O'Bryant. Rodger lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to his family, and the joy he found in being a grandfather. He carried a strong work ethic in everything he did, and his greatest pride came from providing for his loved ones and watching his family grow.

Rodger especially cherished his grandchildren, who were the light of his later years. Whether through his stories, his steady presence, or the example he set, he left a legacy of love, dedication, and strength that will live on in them. He also enjoyed fishing, sharing countless memories with his brother Jack and, in later years, with his cousin's husband Keith Strickland, a pastime that brought him both peace and laughter.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cassandra O'Bryant; his brother, Mike O'Bryant (Lynn); and his children, Rodney O'Bryant (Sharon), Kim O'Bryant Dockery, Haley Bruner (Evan), and Wendy White (Ben).

Rodger was the proud grandfather of Blake and Dalton O'Bryant; Tyler, Colten, and Noah Dockery; Ember and Lyra Bruner; and Carson, Reagan, Levi, and Aubree White. He was also blessed with five great-grandchildren, along with a large and loving extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Jack O'Bryant, Ralph Eugene O'Bryant, and Edna Earl Lancaster.

A private graveside service will be held at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with a private family viewing just prior at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel.

Pallbearers will be: Tyler Dockery, Colten Dockery, Noah Dockery, Evan Bruner, Ben White, and Stanley Hagler.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Bass Tactix Alabama, a nonprofit supporting youth fishing that Rodger loved. Donations can be made online at Bass Tactix Donation Page, or by contacting Alabama Director Shane Mansell at (205) 765-8020 or [email protected]. Contributions may also be mailed to Bass Tactix Alabama, 13873 Highway 81, Russellville, AL 35654.

Rodger will be remembered as a hardworking man, a devoted family member, and a proud grandfather whose love and example will continue to guide those who knew him.
