Rodger Smith Obituary

Visit the Lindquist Mortuary - North Ogden website to view the full obituary.

Rodger passed away at his home on October 24, 2025, due to health issues. He was born to Leo Don and Lois Mcfarlane Smith on July 28, 1948.

He graduated from Ben Lomond High School. He went to college at Weber State and was later hired on at Defense Depot as a welder and retired from HAFB. Rodger served 19 years in both the Navy and Army Reserves.

Rodger married Sandy Martinez and from that marriage they had a son, Justin.

Rodger later married Beth Ann in the Bountiful Temple, and she brought her three children to their wedding, Justin, Jennifer, and Jake.

Rodger was very talented in welding, stained glass, and building anything. He loved riding his Harley. Spending time at the property in Lava and the Oregon Coast and going to Yellowstone were all his favorites. He loved his “67” GTX and all fast cars.

Rodger and his calm manner will be missed by all. One of those being “The Old Man’s Breakfast.”

Rodger is survived by his wife, Beth Ann; children, Justin (Katie) Smith, Justin Muir, Jennifer (Robert) Thorsted, and Jake (Akemi) Muir; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren that he loved dearly; his brothers, Les (Sheryl) and Clint; sisters-in-law, Jeaneen Smith and Shelly James (Cindy Ranii); and brother-in-law, James (Joy) Summers. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, David and Tom.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the Willard Cemetery. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rodger’s name to Primary Children’s Hospital.
