The son of Jesse Ward and Junia Marie (Currier) Butler, Rodney Ward Butler was born February 16, 1950 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Rod was raised and attended school in Calahan, Colorado. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1969 to 1973.
Rodney and Rita JoAnn Ward were united in marriage on April 24, 1971 in Oklahoma City. They moved to Guymon in 1975 from the Oklahoma City area. Rod worked for Hitch Farms and CRI Feeders.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rita on May 30, 2011; and one sister, Colleen Mowry.
Survivors include his four children: LaDonna Thompson of Norman, Oklahoma, Brian Butler of Liberal, Kansas, Clint Butler of Amarillo, Texas and Chris Butler of Yukon, Oklahoma; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and one sister, Peggy Patzkowsky of Rush, Colorado.
The family will celebrate Rodney's life with a come and go gathering Saturday morning, July 1st at 10:00 a.m. at 106 N. Perkins.
