NORWOOD - A Mass of Christian Burial for Rodney W. McDonald, 89, a resident of 2312 County Rt. 35, Norwood, will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew's Church in Norwood with Rev. Raymond Moreau presiding. Burial will be held in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chateaugay, following the services. Mr. McDonald passed away early Thursday morning, November 13, 2025 at the Massena Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Massena with family at his side. Rodney is survived by his wife 62 years, Luva, Norwood; his four children, Stephen and Stacy McDonald, Chateaugay; Michael McDonald, Dunedin, FL; Susan McDonald (Michael Livingston), Dekalb and Marilyn and Keith LaDue, Norfolk; his three beloved grandchildren, Jonah, Jed and Avery and two sisters, Agatha and Marcia McDonald, both of Plattsburgh as well as several nieces and nephews. Rodney was pre-deceased by his parents and three brothers, Carlton, Stanley and Leatrice McDonald.
Born in Chateaugay, NY on July 2, 1936 to the late Alfred and Anna Mae Peets McDonald, Rodney graduated from Chateaugay High School and entered the U.S. Army. Upon his honorable discharge, Rodney married Luva LaClair in Churubusco, NY on June 8, 1963. Rodney worked at the NY Power Authority in Massena for 34 years, retiring in 1994 as Line Foreman/Supervisor, a position and job he truly loved. In his spare time, Rodney enjoyed working outside, paying meticulous attention to his yard and gardens. Memorial donations in Rodney's memory can be made to St. Andrew's Church in Norwood and memories and condolences may be shared online at www.buckfuneralhome.com. The Buck Funeral Home in Norwood is serving the family of Rodney W. McDonald.
