Rodrigo T. Largoza, MD, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, physician, veteran, and devout Catholic, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was 85.

Born in Tiaong, Philippines, Rodrigo was one of seven children. He overcame humble beginnings to pursue a medical education at the University of Santo Tomas. After earning his medical degree, he immigrated to the United States and completed his residency in anesthesiology in Englewood, New Jersey.

Rodrigo met his wife, Mildred Patacsil, through his brother, and they married after a brief courtship. Together, they raised four children and built a life in Oradell, New Jersey. He later became a proud U.S. citizen, an achievement he considered one of his greatest honors.

He trained at the Cleveland Clinic, became board-certified in anesthesiology, and served as Chief Anesthesiologist at St. Mary's Hospital in Hoboken, NJ. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserve and was activated during Operation Desert Storm, where he was recognized for his leadership in military medical operations.

Rodrigo had a lifelong passion for Japanese-style gardening and transformed his home garden into a peaceful and well-loved retreat. He also enjoyed music, often singing beside Mildred at the piano during family gatherings.

He and Mildred prioritized education and instilled that value in their children, all of whom earned college degrees. Rodrigo found great joy in his role as a grandfather and took pride in the accomplishments of his seven grandchildren: Lauren, Aimee, Kayla, Kara, Eric Jr., Ryan, and Kaitlyn.

In retirement, he remained active in his church and the local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) chapter.

Rodrigo was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mildred, in 2021, as well as his parents and siblings Nacianceno, Amado, and Lolita.

He is survived by his children and their spouses: Paul and Deborah; Kimberly and Dr. Raashan Williams; Rod Eric and Cristine; and James and Kristi. He is also survived by his siblings Artemio, Aurora, and Caridad.

He has been reunited with his beloved wife Mildred, and somewhere in heaven they are sitting at a piano once again making beautiful music together.

Bo and I send our condolences, love and prayers to Paul, Deborah and family. I am greatful I had the chance to meet Rod on several occasions in Massachusetts and share a meal with Paul, Deb, and Rod at our club.
Rod was always upbeat and loved to share his memories of Mildred and all-what a love story they had. He was a true gentleman, kind and caring and so proud of Paul and other family members he loved to talk about.
My family from Ohio all went to Cleveland Clinic which was a big part of Rod's medical profesion. May his memory be a blessing to all of us.
