Roger Gene Cooper

Roger Gene Cooper, 73-year-old rural Afton resident, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at the St. Francis Vinita Hospital. He was born on October 8, 1950, in Tulsa to Alfred E. and Arlene Loree (Lay) Cooper. Roger was a 1968 graduate of Tulsa McClain High School and received his associate degree at Oklahoma State University. Roger married the love of his life, Elizabeth Weaver on May 14, 1971, in Tulsa. He owned and operated R&R Carpet and Tile in Tulsa for over 40 years before retiring. He was a member and served as a board member of the Tulsa Home Builders Association, for 42 years. Roger loved Oklahoma State University Sports of all kinds, he enjoyed golfing, playing pickle ball and was the rules enforcer at the Coves. He loved his family so much, especially fishing with granddaughter Maranda. Roger loved the lake life, traveling, and grilling on his Hasty Bake Grill. Living most of his life in Tulsa, He and Elizabeth decided to make Grand Lake their permanent home in 2018.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Jessica Diane Cooper in 2016, and a brother, Alfred Larry Cooper in 2016.
The family includes his wife Elizabeth of the home, a son, Mark Cooper and wife Amanda of Mansfield, Texas, grandchildren, Maranda, Luke, and Adelaide Cooper, stepmother, Betty Cooper of Tulsa, and his sister, Mildred Diane Giddeon of Tahlequah.
The Celebration of life for Roger Gene Cooper, will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Cleora Community Church, with Pastor Ben Lindsly officiating.
