Roger D. Griffin, 75, of Sugar Grove, Illinois passed away October 13, 2022. He was born to the late Mr. & Mrs. David D. & Margaret (Hightower) Griffin. He graduated high school in 1965 from Glasford High School, and he went on to study automotives in trade school and at University of Northern Iowa. In 1970, he married his wife Karen in Oxford Junction, Iowa. During his career, he shared his expertise with many students. After teaching at Scott Community College, Roger went on to work for Nissan for 25 years as an automotive trainer before his retirement. He had several favorite hobbies, including watching the Chicago Cubs, shooting competitions, and keeping up to date on all Nissan models, even after retirement. In his younger years, Roger enjoyed drag racing, and even as he got older, he still enjoyed watching races–whether it was NASCAR, his dogs, or grandchildren running around. He took many trips with his wife to places near and far in his motorhome, such as to camp in Iowa, to visit dear friends around the country, and to experience many national parks.
Roger is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karen, of Sugar Grove, his son Allen (Aris) Griffin of Big Rock, IL; his daughter Margaret (Andrew) McCulloch of Roscoe, IL; his brother Tom Griffin of Farmington, IL; and sister Sally (Wayne) Tempro of Bradenton, FL. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Anna, Nikolas, Alice, Mira, Charles, Oliver, and Theodore, as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews, and friends. He will be greatly missed by his family and especially by his beloved golden retrievers, Geena, Thelma, and Louise.
The family will hold a private memorial at a later date.
