Roger was born May 31, 1938 to Leo and Edla (Johnson) Gullickson at a farm house south of Bryant. At the age of three in 1941, his family moved and purchased a farm in the North Preston area to be closer to family. Roger lived on that farm place virtually the rest of his life. He attended country school until the eighth grade, and then went to high school in Lake Preston. He graduated in 1956, he then attended Huron College. In 1960, he entered the Air National Guard in Sioux Falls.
On August 20, 1960 he married Sandra Holverson at the North Preston Church. They were blessed with two children, Susan (Todd) Williams and Darin Gullickson.
Roger was able to farm with his father or his son his entire life on the same place. Roger enjoyed farming, trucking, feeding cattle, and whatever he could do with a pay loader. He took pride in his work, family, children, grandchildren, and great grand children. His family's lives and their activities were always a priority. He loved to visit with neighbors and friends around his kitchen table with coffee, and diet coke. In the last few years he had many wonderful conversations with his great grandkids around the table with a treat. He also loved to cheer on the Lake Preston Divers and SDSU Jackrabbits. Roger was also involved in many church and community boards and activities.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra, children, Susan (Todd) Williams, Madison; Darin Gullickson, Lake Preston; grandchildren, Heather (Daniel) Flahie, Jason Williams, Heith Williams, Amanda (Tyler) Anderson, Michelle (Dana) Sand, Darrik (Shelace) Bunker. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Dale (Jackie) Gullickson, Sioux Falls and many special nieces and nephews.
