Roger Alan LaPlatney, age 77, of Harrisville, NY, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Canton Potsdam Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born on September 10, 1947, in Harrisville, NY, son of Kenneth and Ruth (Moore) LaPlatney, he graduated from Harrisville Central School in 1966. Roger served in the US. Army Reserves and worked at St. Joseph Mineral Co. for many years until it's closing where he was an active union member. Later, he became an electrician with IBEW and 910 until his retirement.
Roger enjoyed spending time at his camp on Lake Bonaparte with his family.
Survivors include a sister, Elaine Canfield and her husband, Tom, and a brother, Richard and his wife, Darlene, both of Harrisville, NY. Roger is also survived by a sister, Jane Dietz and her husband, Ty, of Ballston Lake, NY. In addition, Roger is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Roger was predeceased by his parents, and a brother, David LaPlatney of Ogdensburg, NY.
Funeral services will be held at Frary Funeral Home in Harrisville. Calling hours will be held from 5:00PM to 8:00PM on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, with the funeral services at Frary Funeral Home on Thursday, October 24. 2024, at 11.00AM. Burial will be in Harrisville Cemetery Following the funeral service.
