Roger Wayne Lee, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully at home in Louisville, Kentucky, on January 3, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on February 17, 1955, in Louisville.
A proud alumnus of Western High School, Roger's journey through life was marked by his passion for learning and self-improvement. He achieved the remarkable distinction of a Tenth Degree Black Belt in Kenpo Karate, a testament to his dedication and skill in martial arts. Not only was he accomplished, but he was also an exceptional teacher, sharing his knowledge and passion for martial arts with countless students, fostering both discipline and camaraderie among them.
Roger was known for his captivating personality. He had a unique ability to brighten any room with his humor, while his compassion and loving nature left a lasting impression on friends and family alike. His fond memories of doing Tai Chi on the beach are a reflection of his zest for life and the joy he found in simple pleasures.
In his leisure time, Roger enjoyed collecting swords and canes, treasures that reflected both his interests and his keen sense of history. His hobbies were not merely pastimes but extensions of his vibrant character, enriching his interactions with those around him.
Roger is mourned deeply by his loving wife of 22 years, Donna Lee; his son, Jason Lee; and his daughter, Joanna Metcalf. He leaves behind cherished memories held dear by his grandson, Austin Lee; his grandson, Jonathan Lee; and two great granddaughters. His sister, Renee Lee; his aunt, Katie Hughes; and his uncle, Ernest Lee, Roger's dear friends Sue Carter and Henry Childers will also remember him with love.
Roger was predeceased by his parents, Daniel Auby Lee and Betty Ann Wallace, who undoubtedly shaped the man he became.
As we remember Roger Wayne Lee, let us celebrate a life well-lived, marked by love, accomplishment, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear. His spirit will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of life for Roger will be held at Air Devils Inn, 2802 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, KY 40205. Sunday, January 18th from 2pm to 6pm.
