Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Directors - Royal Oak on Feb. 9, 2025.
Roger Andrew Leith, 62, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.
Roger was born on July 3, 1962, the fourth child of Phyllis and Richard Leith. He graduated from Berkley High School in 1981 and went on to serve proudly in the United States Marine Corps from 1982 to 1986. During his service, he was stationed in California, Okinawa, and North Carolina. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Berkley, where he built a life rooted in hard work, loyalty, and family. For the past 38 years, Roger was a dedicated and respected employee of Home, Door, and Window Products in Berkley.
Roger is survived by his mother, Phyllis; his sisters, Audrey (Dennis) LaMothe and Barbara (Gregg) Morton; his brother, David (Glenda) Leith; his nieces and nephews, Christopher (Crystal) Zurek, Emily (Kevin) Haley, Steven (Renee) LaMothe, and Justin (Laura) VanderBerg; and his great-nieces and nephews, Jaida, Aiden, and Jackson Zurek; Braylen, Ella, and Zoey LaMothe; Journey Haley; and Leo and Vern VanderBerg. He is also survived by many close friends. Roger was predeceased by his father, Richard.
Roger was the beloved "fun" uncle who brought joy and adventure into the lives of his nieces, nephews, and their children. He never hesitated to dive into their world of play, turning ordinary moments into cherished memories. Whether letting them climb all over him on the floor, pretending to set sail on the high seas in his boat, or encouraging a little harmless mischief, he filled their lives with laughter and excitement. He loved teasing them just to hear them giggle, but he also cared deeply about their lives, always asking about their interests, activities, and school.
Roger will be remembered as a loyal son, brother, uncle, and friend. He approached life with a positive attitude and rarely spoke harshly of anyone. A skilled carpenter and landscaper, he was a perfectionist in his craft-almost to a fault. Roger was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether it meant driving four hours to assist a friend with car trouble or simply heading around the block to help with a home project. He was the person you could count on, no matter the task, and he generously shared his time, skills, and knowledge with those around him. His kindness, reliability, and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 15th, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Sunday, February 16th, from 1:30 pm until the funeral service at 2:30 pm at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 705 W. Eleven Mile Road (4 blocks E. of Woodward), Royal Oak.
Interment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly Township, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Roger's honor are appreciated and may be made to Toys for Tots.
