Roger Wayne Mackie, 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Roger was born on May 25, 1947, in Forsyth County, North Carolina to the late Henry Everett Mackie and Malene Bradley Mackie. He was a graduate of East Forsyth High School and was employed as a machinist with R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company for many years.
As an avid outdoorsman, Roger enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a privately licensed pilot who loved flying his Cub plane. Roger was a fan of the Winston-Salem Dash and Wake Forest University. He and his late wife, Phyllis, were faithful, long-time members of Woodland Baptist Church.
Roger is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis, and brother, Larry Mackie. He is survived by his nephew, Billy Duggins; niece, Amy Duggins; and great-niece, Kaylee.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, officiated by Pastor Tim Gammons, Pastor Steve Roberson, and Pastor Vic Pyles.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Stewardship Fund for Woodland Baptist Church, 1175 Bethania Rural Hall Road, Winston Salem, North Carolina, 27106.
