Roger Eugene Peters, beloved father, brother, Papa, and friend peacefully drew his final breath on March 15, 2023, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls surrounded by his children and loved ones.
Roger, born November 27, 1942, grew up on a farm just outside of Tea, SD where he learned the meaning of family values, faith, and hard work. With an unquestionable work ethic, Roger was the President and CEO of Service First Federal Credit Union in Sioux Falls, SD for nearly 45 years.
Roger was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, spending decades as the church treasurer. He sponsored many baseball and softball teams, finding great joy in watching children learn the value of sportsmanship and teamwork.
When Roger was not spending time with family and friends, he could be found on a golf course or at local car shows. His classic cars were the true loves of his life. Roger loved planting flowers, watching birds in his backyard, eating ice cream and pecan pie, and listening to country music.
Roger was humble, generous, and kind to everyone he met. He lived a full life and will continue to live on in those he loved so dearly. In our time of grieving, we find comfort in knowing he is Home.
Grateful for having shared his life are his 4 daughters, Barbara Niemann (Hank), Rapid City, Karin Weeg (Mike), Harrisburg, Amy Peters (Kevin), Sioux Falls, and Megan Peters (Clay), Harrisburg; son, Steven Peters (Staci), Garretson; sister, Bette Carlson, Sioux Falls, 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Harley Kuper, sister-in-law, Eunice Peters, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Alice (DeBoer) Peters, brother, Alfred Peters, sister, Catherine Kuper, brother-in-law, Bill Carlson, and granddaughter, Alison Sharp.
