Roger Raubach Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Union Funeral Home - West Frankfort on Feb. 11, 2026.
On Monday, February 9th 2026, in the early morning hours, at home and surrounded by his

loving family, our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Roger Carlton Raubach went

home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. After a life marked by faith, kindness,

and quiet strength, he entered into the peace he so deeply trusted and often spoke of.

While our hearts grieve his absence, we rejoice in the promise he held fast; to be absent

from the body is to be present with the Lord.

Roger was born in West Frankfort, Illinois on December 18th 1941, to Leroy and Edna Broy

Raubach. He had a childhood filled with love and laughter. He was the only boy in a family

of four children. His sisters Donna, Carol and Mary Ellen were a constant source of his

mischievous antics. He regaled his family with many humorous anecdotes from his early

years. He spent many happy hours lost in boyhood adventures that involved hunting,

fishing and baseball. He attended school in West Frankfort and graduated from Frankfort

Community High School in 1959. After pursuing an engineering degree at SIU-C, he worked

several years at Olin Mathieson Corporation in Herrin, before starting his own construction

company in 1967.

Roger had a very intimate relationship with the Lord. His faith was even more evident as

he faced many challenges in this life. He gained strength from both his relationships with

God and his family. He impacted the lives of many people, most notably the young men

and boys he coached in baseball and as a youth group leader at First Christian Church in

West Frankfort. Roger was a faithful public servant, serving on the West Frankfort Public

School Board from 1969 until 1979. He was also Frankfort Township Tax Assessor for 12

years and served on the West Frankfort Community Board and West Frankfort Recreation

Association.

In 1967 he started Roger Raubach Construction Company. He continued his work in the

housing industry, becoming a real estate broker and salesman and worked for several years

at Karnes Real Estate in West Frankfort. In the early 1980's, he became a certified real

estate appraiser and later started his own business, Raubach Appraisal Service. He was

blessed to have worked in this business with his son Chris, daughter Amy and later his wife

Marcia up until December 2024.

Roger had many interests that filled his busy life. He was an avid fisherman, loved

hunting and was a master gardener. He especially loved sharing the bounty of his garden

with his family, friends and neighbors.

The pride and joy of Roger's life was his loving wife Marcia, with whom he shared over 61

years of marriage, their three children, Beth, Chris and Amy, who were known affectionately

as the ABC children and his sons-in-law Dale and Dave and daughter-in-law Dawnette. He

was also the proud grandfather to five beautiful grandchildren; Logan, Reed, Ashlan, Evan

and Owen. Roger enjoyed many family vacations and happy hours spent with family

playing baseball, card games, hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren as

well as attending many dance and piano recitals, baseball and basketball games. He was

supportive of his family in every way.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Edna Broy Raubach, sisters

Donna Krah (Bill Krah) and Carol Farley (Duane Farley) and grandson Owen Carl McClerren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marcia Raubach, children Beth and Dale McClerren and

Chris and Dawnette Raubach of Thompsonville, Dave and Amy Galli of West Frankfort,

grandchildren Logan and Ashlan Galli, Reed Raubach, Evan McClerren, sister Mary Ellen

Smith of Murray, Kentucky and several beloved nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted by Pastor T.J. Gentry at Union Funeral

Home on Friday, February 13th. Visitation will be held from 12 to 2:00 with service

immediately following. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to

Hospice of Southern Illinois in honor of Roger.
