Roger Seals Lewis was born on December 29, 1936, in Sharon, Georgia, to the late Lillian Seals Lewis and Joe Lewis. He peacefully departed this life at midnight on October 3, 2025, in Bear, Delaware.
Roger received his early education in Westchester County, New York. On January 11, 1962, he married the love of his life, Edna Ray Seals, and together they shared a beautiful union of 62 years, nine months, and three days. Their marriage was blessed with four children, and together they lovingly raised six: Roger Vincent Seals, Valencia Seals Greene (Cardell), Mark A. Seals, Yolanda Seals Briggs (Derek), Edna Ray McDonald (Stanford), and Alicia R. Seals (Henry).
Roger was a man of integrity and hard work. He was employed by George’s Excavating Company in Port Chester, New York, for 20 years before relocating with his family to Newark, Delaware, in 1981. He later joined Magnus Construction Company, where he worked faithfully until his retirement.
In 1999, Roger became a devoted member of The Church of God at Iron Hill, where he served faithfully until his health no longer allowed him to attend.
Roger lived a full and joyful life. He took great pleasure in spending time with his grandchildren, tending to his garden, lending a helping hand to neighbors and friends, and cheering on his favorite sports teams. He also had a deep love for gospel music and enjoyed recording and sharing his favorite songs with friends and family. Above all, Roger found true happiness in sharing his love, laughter, and faith with those around him.
He was preceded in death by his loving mother and stepfather, Lillian Seals Lewis and Joe Lewis.
Roger leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Edna Ray Seals; six beloved children; eight grandchildren — Alicia R. Seals, Cardell L. Greene, Ricky O. Flowers, Christopher C. Greene, Marissa A. Seals, Crishelle N. Cobham, Anthony Seals, and Jada N. Seals; four great-grandchildren — Ricky O. Flowers Jr., Ezra R. Greene, Nyx L. Flowers, and Theo N. Greene; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
