Roger served in the US Army in Germany. He worked as a millwright and pipe fitter for Merck for many years. He was a supporter of the Union and the Democratic Party. Roger loved having a cup of coffee to solve the world's problems and sitting in his recliner with his dogs curled up beside him. He loved to play golf and enjoyed planting flowers in the yard. Roger loved his family and was always willing to help everybody. He spent many years as an elder at the First Christian (Disciples of Christ) Church and enjoyed singing in church.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nancy Curtis; and brother-in-law, Lynn Jenkins.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at First Christian (Disciples of Christ) Church in Shenandoah, VA with Jim Perry officiating. The interment will be private.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Making a Difference Backpack Ministry in c/o Paula Purdham, 804 7th St. Shenandoah, VA 22849.
