Mr. Roger David Thomas, 74, of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, November 25, 2025, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Born January 21, 1951, in Surry County, David was the only child born to the late Roger Franklin and Annie Ruth Hodge Thomas. He grew up in Mount Airy and graduated from Mount Airy High School in 1969. Following high school, he continued his education at Wingate University before graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. David dedicated his life to hard work, kindness, and genuine service to others. For more than 25 years, David was a beloved member of the Boyles Shoe Store family, known not only for his knowledge of footwear, but for his warm smile, quick sense of humor, and the way they made every customer feel seen, valued, and welcome. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kimberly Cloud Thomas; and his grandson, Carter Thomas. In addition to his parents, Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his son, David Lee Thomas. No formal visitation or memorial service will be held. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the love, care, and compassion shown by the staff at the Northern Regional Skilled Nursing Unit. In lieu of food and flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Fund of the Skilled Nursing Unit at Northern Regional Hospital, ATTN: Jenny Triplett, 830 Rockford Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
