Roger Norman Williams

Roger Williams, a beacon of kindness and intelligence, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, in Fresno, California, at the age of 74. Born on February 2, 1952, in Madera, California, Roger's early years were marked by an insatiable curiosity and a remarkable aptitude for learning.

Roger was a proud graduate of Madera High School, class of 1970, where he was known for his academic excellence. Because Roger was so well liked in school, he was elected class president all through grade school and high school. He attended Fresno State University and majored in Math and Philosophy.

Roger worked as supervisor for the Madera County welfare eligibility department for over 20 years.

Roger's intellectual pursuits were matched by his artistic talents. A self-taught musician, he mastered the bass, guitar, and piano, bringing joy to those who heard him play. As the manager of the band "Union Pacific," he combined his love for Writing music by creating a legacy of melodies. One specific song roger wrote was "Downtown Ripperdan Blues".

Beyond his musical endeavors, Roger had an impressive knack for self-education, including teaching himself about electricity, guitar, and piano. His love for reading was profound, having read every single book in his rest home.

Roger was predeceased by his loving parents, George C. Williams and Ruth A. (Rowland) Williams, as well as his sibling Kay Williams. He leaves behind a legacy of love and wisdom in his children, Allison Grunder and Evan Williams. His memory will also be cherished by his siblings, Dave Williams (Brenda) of Fresno, Donald Williams (Holly) of Madera, and Jeff Williams (Annette) of Bakersfield, who will miss his gentle guidance and warm presence.
