Roland E. Greer, 83, passed away March 17, 2023.
A native of Central Falls, Rhode Island, and a 36-year resident of Greenville, South Carolina; he was a son of the late William and Elmira Hanson Greer; a graduate of Bridgeport University; a U.S. Army Veteran; attended Christ Church; a 33 Degree Mason and a member of Jenks #24 East Providence, Rhode Island. He also held Scottish Rites. His working career included a lace designer for New England Lace; Director of Purchasing for Collins & Aikman and Coats & Clark; and later President and CEO of his company, Infomin Textiles.
He was survived by his wife of 63 years, Carol E. Hunt Greer of the home; two sons, Jeffrey A. Greer (Kay) of Clayton, North Carolina and Todd R. Greer (Ginger) of Greer; one daughter, Cheryl E. Greer-Craven (David) of Greer; two brothers, William "Bill" Greer (Regina) and Gary Greer (Debbie) all of Rhode Island; one sister, Elaine Cole of Florida; six grandchildren, Rich Harbison (Zoe), Katey, Amber, Kelsey, Andrew and Anna Greer; one great-granddaughter, Emilou Harbison and the soon arrival of Henry Harbison.
He was predeceased by a son, Scott A. Greer and one brother-in-law, Ray Cole.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at The Wood Mortuary Chapel conducted by Rev. Kellie Wilson and Dr. Ronald Rich. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Serenity Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Rich Harbison, Katey Greer, Amber Greer, David Craven, Mike Cole and Rick Thatcher. Honorary pallbearers will be Kelsey Greer, Anna Greer and Andrew Greer, who will also play bagpipes.
Visitation will be held 12:00 until 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at The Wood Mortuary.
Memorials may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605 or Carolina Youth Symphony, PO Box 534, Greenville, SC 29602.
The family will be at the home.
