He was raised in Lyndhurst and had lived in Waldwick for more than 70 years before moving to Saddle River. He served his country in the U.S. Army shortly after World War II. After his service, Rolf began his career as a technical illustrator and artist. He then mastered the skill of framing and owned and operated Custom Gallery in Waldwick. Rolf was heavily involved in the local art associations. He was a member of the NJ Watercolor Society, where he served as a President from 2004-2006. As a talented artist, Rolf had won numerous awards from the aforementioned societies and the Hawthorne Library Art Show. One of his greatest accomplishments was having a painting selected for exhibition in the American Watercolor Society show in New York City. Rolf was a kind and gentle man, loved by many. He will be deeply missed.
