Obituary of Romana L. Rocamora
Romana "Rocky" Lagoc Rocamora, 86, passed away early on Easter Sunday morning, March 31, 2024 on her way to Easter Sunday Mass.
She was born on January 22, 1938 in Bacara, Illocos Norte - North Philippines to Daniel and Ines Lagoc and was the fifth born of five children. Romana attended Hospital de San Juan De Dios and graduated with her Registered Nursing Degree on October 12, 1960. Upon graduating her nursing courses in the Philippines, Romana traveled across the Pacific to Salinas California in 1962, where she would live with her uncle Felix Dagiuo and family. She later met her husband, Medardo "Dan" Malineza Rocamora and happily married in 1964.
They purchased their home in North Salinas then welcomed their first born son Richard in 1966 and 8 years later introduced their second born son Randy in 1973.
Romana started her nursing career at Salinas Memorial Hospital, and through the decades, worked numerous shifts and positions like Charge Nurse and Staff Developer, at Salinas Valley Memorial, Katherine Convalescent, Hazel Hawkins, Mee Memorial, CHOMP, Saint Louis Hospital, and Casa Serena Convalescent, but finishing her 56 Year nursing career at CTF Soledad.
Romana really enjoyed watching her Filipino soap operas, weekly activities like Zumba and Hula Dancing Classes at the Salvation Army with her dear friends. Romana was a lifetime member of the Filipino Community of Salinas Valley and The Filipino Women's Club of Salinas which she was The Founding President in 1984, including Past President, a member of the Barangay Lions Club and the Fil-Am Civic League of Salinas.
Romana especially loved flying back and forth to Hawaii spending time with her sons, daughter in laws, grandchildren and great grand children.
Romana was preceded in death by her husband, Medardo "Dan" Rocamora, her parents, Daniel and Ines Lagos, her siblings Lourdes Vea, Dr Andres Lagos, Esmerelda Ibadlit, and Carlos Lagos.
Romana is survived by her children: Richard (Jennifer) Rocamora, Randolph (Stephanie) Rocamora ; her grandchildren: Rebecca (Jon) Stroven, Kiyannah Rocamora (Peter Piho), her great grandchildren: Paxton & Kasen Piho, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 12pm-6pm with a Rosary Vigil at 4pm - 6pm,

Celebration of Life + the Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 10am at Madonna Del Sasso Catholic Church, 320 E. Laurel Dr., Salinas, CA 93906.
Burial will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Salinas, CA 93907.
