Romeo Welch, Sr., 91, widower of Georgia Ann Shelton Welch, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2025. He was born on September 2, 1934, the son of the late George and Geneva Hume Welch. Romeo retired from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky, as an Orthopedic Technician. Survivors include two children, Romeo (Angela) Welch Jr., and Charlotte (Raymond) Barron; six grandchildren, Lindsey Welch Bonds, Natasha Nicole Hugie, Ashley Welch, Jessy Welch, David (Pamela) Barron, and Jason (Emilee) Barron; and great-grandchildren, Seth Barron, Noah Barron, Maxx Robertson, Grayson Barron, Bailey Tudor, Brinley Bonds, Braxton Barnes, Teegan Greer, Tinsley Hugie, Kyson Farrell, Oliver Guerrero, Remy Guerrero, and one great granddaughter, Arazona SkyeTudor-Baker. Additional survivors include two sisters, Barbara Morton and Brenda Hay, and three brothers, Billy Welch, Johnny Dale Welch, and Paul Wayne Welch. He was preceded in death by his son, Cecil Ray Hopper; a great-granddaughter, Adaliegh Welch, and two sisters, Sheila Smith and Margie Underwood; and one brother, Gene Welch. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Bales officiating. The burial will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. The bearers will be David Baron, Jason Barron, Seth Barron, Noah Barron, Braxton Barnes, and David Noe. The visitation will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Betts & West Funeral Home is honored to serve Romeo and his family during their time of need.
