Romolo Leomporra Obituary

Romolo John Leomporra (A.K.A. Mark Tully owner of the #1 Tavern & Inventor of the Super Tully Nut) of Marlton, NJ died October 22, 2025. Age 93. He passed peacefully at home. Beloved husband of Lillian M. Leomporra for 58 years. Loving father of Romolo (Melissa), Christian, and Alexander (Stephanie). Devoted Nonno of Ally, Tyler, Gianni, Lorenzo, Luciano, Giuliana, Giada and Giacomo. Romolo is survived by his twin brother, Remo, and preceded in death by his parents Dominico and Sylvia, dear sisters Emma, Gloria and brothers Tullio and Donnie.
He lived his life to the fullest: he was an entrepreneur, singer, entertainer, traveler, husband, father, grandfather and so much more. He appreciated all the customers that support the Tavern throughout the 56 seasons. He was last of the "Old School."
Romolo grew up in Germantown, PA where he worked at his family business, Leomporra Mezzanotte Bakery and attended St. John's High School. He went to college at Villanova University where he studied music, singing, played baseball and football.
After graduating Villanova, he started in show business doing Summer stock and then went on to Broadway. He met his wife Lillian while performing on a cruise ship in 1965. After marrying Lillian in 1967, he built and ran several businesses, including the Marquee Motel, Vagabond Motel, Mark Tully's Nut Club (where he performed as the closing act), Playbill Apartments, and of course the #1 Tavern.
He always enjoyed the company of friends, spending time with family, singing and telling stories. He was a furniture maker, where pieces still adorn the houses today. He was a wine connoisseur, with a 1700 bottle wine cellar. He loved supporting all four Philadelphia sports teams, especially going to games. He was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity (1990) at West Chester University.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. In true Romolo fashion, let us celebrate his life the way he would have wanted: with good company, good music, and of course, a Super Tully Nut.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Viewing on Monday from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Bradley Funeral Home, Route 73 & Evesham Road, Marlton, NJ and on Tuesday from 10:00-11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 236 E. Main Street, Maple Shade, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM. Entombment will follow at Colestown Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Romolo's name to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).
