Ron Botsko Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wiley Funeral Home - Granbury on Mar. 9, 2026.
September 4, 1937 – March 2, 2026

Ronald J. Botsko was born on September 4, 1937, to Joseph and Lucile Botsko in Youngstown, Ohio. His life came to a peaceful end in the early morning hours on March 2, 2026, at home with his family. His unwavering faith, kindness, and positivity will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Growing up in "Coke Alley", he had many adventures, from selling newspapers for 10 cents to working in the iron mills. He graduated from Struthers High School in 1955, where he enjoyed playing football, basketball, and baseball. Following high school, Ron felt grateful to have the opportunity to attend Case Institute of Technology. During that time, he was excited to try out for the then-Milwaukee Braves as a pitcher. He ultimately decided instead to complete his engineering degree. He graduated with a BS in Metallurgical Engineering in 1959. Ron was called to the West Coast and began his amazing journey in building the legacy of his brilliant mind. He worked in the aerospace industry, then moved on to create his own corporation, NDT Systems. Upon retirement, he loved fishing, skiing, sailing, and playing bridge. He excelled at all things he tried. It was in California where Ron met and married his beloved wife, Billie. They spent 26 years together, enjoying a life filled with love, laughter, and travel with family and friends before she passed away.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his sister, and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Robert Berwin. He is survived by his stepdaughter and son-in-law, Mellanie and Jason; one grandchild, Katelyn; and his nephews and niece, Robert, Gregg, and Laura. He also leaves behind extended family and many friends who will miss him beyond measure.

A celebration of his beautiful life will be held at 1:00 pm on March 20th at The Wiley Center in Granbury, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Ron's name to Cancer Research Institute or Alzheimer's Association.
