Ronald J. "Ron" Baker

Ronald J. Baker, 89, of McMurray, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, at Canonsburg Hospital in Canonsburg, PA.
Born on December 12, 1935, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to William Baker and Irene (Krompigel) Baker, Ronald grew up in a close-knit family that instilled in him values of hard work and community. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a tanker stationed in Germany during the Korean War era, an experience that shaped his sense of duty and camaraderie.
Ronald's professional life was defined by his passion for barbering, a craft he pursued since 1957. As the sole proprietor of Ron's Golden Shears and Salon on the Green in Peters Township, he built a thriving business known for its welcoming atmosphere and skilled service. His entrepreneurial spirit extended beyond the salon; he established the Ron Baker Golf Classic, a charitable event that raised thousands of dollars to support the VFW Ambulance Service in Peters Township, reflecting his deep commitment to veterans and local first responders.
Known for his sharp business acumen, unwavering kindness, and genuine love for people, Ronald had a gift for making everyone feel like family. He cherished his own family above all, creating lasting memories through shared stories, laughter, and support.
Ronald was preceded in death by his father, William Baker; his mother, Irene Baker; and his brother, William Baker.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Mary Lucy Baker; His Son; Thomas W. Baker, and Thomas's spouse, Joan Baker; his daughter, Lisa Marie Barnes, and Lisa's spouse, Jeff Barnes; his sister, Irene Meledin; and his cherished grandchildren: Jenna Baker, Mason Baker, Sophie Baker, Kindle and her spouse David Fisher, (Great grandchildren: Rylee Fisher, Tatum Fisher) Chelsea and her spouse Tyler Geist, (Great Grandchildren: Coral Geist, Tyde Geist) Casey Barnes and his spouse Melissa Barnes, Katie Barnes, and Trevor Barnes and his fiancée Julia Giannandrea.
Family and Friends are welcome on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m.to 11:30 a.m. at Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray (724-941-3211). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 12Noon at St. Benedict the Abbot Church, St. John XXIII Parish. Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
