Carol (Knestrick) Henderson
Age 86 of Longwood at Oakmont, formerly of Fox Chapel, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025. Carol was born in Washington, PA on January 22, 1939 she was the daughter of the late Paul and Sara (Aiken) Knestrick. Beloved wife for 54 years of the late Thomas William Henderson, a high school classmate; loving mother of Paul T. Henderson of Potomac, MD and the late Susan K. Henderson. She adored her grandchildren Hayes, Emma and Sarah Henderson and James Zinner.
Carol graduated from Washington High School in 1957 Carnegie Mellon University, nee "Carnegie Tech" in 1961. After college, she began a career at ALCOA and later taught at the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf before becoming a full time, stay at home mother. An enthusiastic Steelers fan, she and Tom have had season tickets since 1969. She particularly loved Jack Lambert, and his jersey was a favorite possession. After decades of playing social bridge, later in life she turned to playing competitive duplicate bridge, and fulfilled a long time goal by becoming a Life Master in her 70s.
With a keen eye for design, she had an impressive collection of Spanish majolica pottery and functioned as her own general contractor in updating and renovating a handful of homes over the years. She previously served on the boards of The Kingsley Association and Junior League of Pittsburgh, and was a member of Longue Vue Club and Ross Mountain Club.
There will be a private interment and service at Washington Cemetery, Washington, PA.
