Ronald Bashor Obituary

Lt. Col. Ronald L Bashor, (retired) 75, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025 in Warrensburg, Missouri surrounded by loved ones. He was born on April 5, 1949 in Kansas City Missouri to John and Lucille Bashor.

He attended Southeast High School in Kansas City, Missouri and then went on to attend the University of Missouri-Kansas City where he received a degree in Pharmacy in 1972. He continued his education by earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1976. While a senior in Dental School he was selected as one of fifteen students nationwide to enter the United States Air Force under a special Air Force Institute of Technology program called the "Air Senior Dental Program." He was commissioned a second lieutenant and promoted to Captain upon graduation in 1976.

He married his first wife, Mary, on May 11, 1974. Together they had 4 children; Brian, Becky, Brittany, and Bethany. He had a distinguished career in the United States Air Force and received several awards including Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, and National Defense Medal.

He retired from the Air Force in 1999 and started a private dental practice in Butler, Missouri. While practicing in Butler he was honored by being selected as Missouri Dentist of the Year. He also served as the Bates County Memorial Hospital pharmacist on the weekends. He fully retired in 2019 and enjoyed collecting and building models, gardening, and spending time with his family, including his second wife, Denia, who he married October 24, 2012.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Brittany Lynn and his first wife, Mary Elizabeth.

He is survived by his second wife, Denia Bashor of Warrensburg, MO; his children Brian Bashor of St. Charles, MO, Becky Oetting and husband Derrick of Wentzville, MO, Bethany Bashor and husband Galen Sanchez of Waipahu, HI; his stepchildren Tracy Harris of Weimer, TX and Chris Cochran of Columbus, OH; his granddaughters Bailey (14) and Emma (11), his step granddaughters Bailey Marshall and Kaylee Nefstead and step great grandsons Johnathan and Beau.

He was a wonderful father, husband, and dentist/pharmacist who was proud of his service to his country and will be greatly missed.

His visitation service will be on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 9:00am, with funeral to follow at 10:00am, at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge BLVD, Kansas City MO 64133. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America, PO Box 758593, Topeka KS 66675-9949.
