Ronald Lee Bishop, of La Salle, passed away on January 5, 2025, at the age of 71. Ron married the love of his life, Debbie in 1971 and they had two children: Kerri and Kelly. Ron worked at Kodak for 44 years and was an active volunteer fireman at the La Salle Fire Department for 20 years. After retiring from Kodak and the Fire Department, Ron took a housing maintenance position at UNC.
Ron loved to spend time in the mountains where he loved to hunt, camp, and ride ATVs. He was a beautiful soul that would help anyone. He was a jack of all trades and would often get asked to help with projects by his sons-in-law and friends. Without hesitation he would learn to be a mechanic, carpenter, drywaller, or gunsmith; whatever the job required. He did it without notoriety, but to learn a new skill and most of all to have quality time with those he loved. Most often you would find Ron as a very proud Papa on a soccer field, shooting range, or gym supporting his granddaughters. He lived life to the fullest and loved spending time doing anything, as long as it was with his family and friends.
Ronald is survived by his wife Debbie Bishop; children Kerri (Lou Bedan), Kelly (Dani Beauvais), granddaughters Ava, Delany, Ella, and Addie; brother, Robert Bishop, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Don Bishop and Barbara Bishop (Arnold) and his brother Richard Bishop.
An Open House / Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 25th from 1 – 4 PM at the La Salle Fire Department. Please stop by at your leisure to give condolences to the Bishop family.

I worked with Ron at UNC in the housing department for many years. He was a calming force in the midst of the everyday chaos that comes with housing young adults in the university setting. He was always ready to handle each and every situation like it was no big deal. And, some really were big deals! I appreciated his great sense of humor and totally down to earth approach to the everyday issues encountered in the housing community. A wonderful soul who will be greatly missed. My condolences, thoughts and prayers to his family.
