Ronald Arthur Blasen, 81, of Fort Gibson, peacefully passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at his home. He was born September 17, 1941 in Albany, NY to Louis John and Blanche Edna Blasen. He graduated from Albany High School and the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in engineering. Ron was an Army Veteran, serving in Greenland and the Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. as a medical specialist. After serving in the Army, he completed an apprenticeship through Grinnell Sprinklers. Early in this career, he worked at General Electric Turbines and 9 Mile Nuclear Plant in Owego, NY. He belonged to UA Local 7 Plumbers & Steamfitters Union. Later in his career, he joined the Road Sprinklers Union 669 and traveled the country designing and installing Fire Safety Systems for various companies, including Motorola and Texas Instruments. Ron's favorite sports were football and boxing. He also enjoyed traveling, fishing, kayaking, cooking, and listening to music. Ron was a great lover of nature and animals. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ron leaves behind his wife, Sandra Beaver; sons, Ronald John Blasen and Richard Joseph Blasen; grandchildren, Ashley Blasen and Nathaniel Blasen; great-grandson, Edmond Halimi; sisters, Polly Roland and Beverley Cardone; and many nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by wife, Shirley; brothers, Robert Blasen and William Blasen; and sisters, Joan Beebe and Marge Casperson.
A celebration of Ronald's life will be 11AM, Friday, August 18, 2023 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery Pavilion with Anthony Mellenger eulogizing.
