Alvin Jutz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cartmell-Davis Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc. - Main Office on Oct. 1, 2025.
Alvin G. 'Al' Jutz, a beloved member of the Halifax community and formerly of Plymouth, passed away peacefully in his home on September 24th, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 81 years old. Al was the devoted husband of the late Linda E. (Pierce) Jutz, with whom he shared a life filled with love and cherished memories.
Born on November 6, 1943, in Little Falls, Minnesota, Al was the son of the late Raymond and Helen (Tretter) Jutz. He grew up on the family farm, where he developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. In 1962, Al proudly served in the United States Air Force as an Airman 1st Class until 1965, a testament to his commitment to his country.
Al moved to Massachusetts for his military service, where he met the love of his life, Linda. Together, they raised a beautiful family, and Al established his own welding supplies and repair business, showcasing his remarkable talent for fixing anything and everything. His generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand to family, friends and neighbors were hallmarks of his character.
Al had a passion for travel, exploring the beauty of the United States and Germany, where he delved into his family history. He was an active member of the local antique car club and looked forward to the camaraderie of the Veterans monthly luncheons. His faith was an important part of his life, and he was a dedicated member of Trinity Church in Bridgewater, where he enjoyed participating in the men's breakfast club.
Al is survived by his loving daughters, Kerin Sylvester and her husband Jeff of Carver, and Corey Billings and her husband David of Plymouth. He was also the proud grandfather of Aalyx Kemmett, Hannah White, Benjamin Sylvester, Nicholas Sylvester, Connor Billings, Grace Billings, and Jamison Billings, as well as a great-grandfather to Ryker Sylvester, Lydia Kemmett, Aadilyn Kemmett, and Kendall White. He is also survived by his sisters, Carol Seelen of Michigan, Irene Tretter of Minnesota, and Laura Seelen of Minnesota, along with many cherished nieces and nephews. Al was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Erin Marsh, and his brothers Eddie, Joe, and Leo Jutz.
In his later years, Al found companionship and joy with Judith Gabriel, with whom he shared seven wonderful years.
A memorial service to honor Al's life will be held on Friday, October 10th, at 11:00 AM at Trinity Church, located at 91 Main Street, Bridgewater. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Mt. Prospect Cemetery in Bridgewater.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Al's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or online at stjude.org.
Alvin G. Jutz will be remembered for his kindness, his unwavering spirit, and the love he shared with all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion and strength that will continue to inspire his family and friends.

Al was a cousin to my husband Dick Tretter. I got to know him and his wife Linda after we were married and they had Kerin. They came to ND to visit and Al told me years later that it was in our house on that visit that Kerin took her first steps. Then we got to see them years later at his sister's house in Ishpeming, MI. They were both so fun. Then later after Linda passed away and Al retired, he would make several more trips with his sister Carol up to ND and stay here. He was always welcome and so fun to have around. We were so happy we got to visit with him at Irene and Bennie's anniversary party this last August. We have fond and loving memories of him.
