Ronald Laverne Bodell was born on July 12, 1969, in Eaton Rapids, Michigan to Kay and Doris Bodell. He grew up in Onondaga, Michigan and went to school in Leslie, Michigan where he graduated from Leslie High School with the class of 1987. After high school he worked at various jobs before attending Fire School at Lansing Community College in Lansing, Michigan. Ron was a trim carpenter and was a volunteer firefighter with the Onondaga Fire Department where he worked his way up to captain and was the Captain of the Onondaga Fire Department for ten years. He was married on October 2, 2015, in Toledo, Ohio to Cynthia DeMott and they made their home in Onondaga. In 2020 they moved to Buffalo, Wyoming where Ron continued working as a trim carpenter. They continued living in Buffalo until his death.
Ron was in 4-H and became a 4-H leader. He was a member of the NRA and Ducks Unlimited. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He raised and showed rabbits and was also an accomplished gunsmith, but his passion was his children and grandchildren who he loved more than anything in the world.
Ron was a very selfless person who liked everybody, and everybody liked him. He was the love of Cindy's life and her soulmate. They met later in life, but both knew they were the ones for each other. His love of the mountains is what brought them to Buffalo where they had their favorite fishing holes and would try to fish every weekend. Ron was at peace living in Buffalo and was an extremely talented carpenter who loved his work and took pride in all that he touched. Ron and Cindy fell in love with the Johnson County atmosphere and how kind, generous and loving the people were. Ron did not grow up in Buffalo, and only lived there for a few years but made many, many friends and considered Buffalo Home.
He is survived by his wife Cindy Bodell of Buffalo; his father Kay Bodell of Jackson, Michigan; two sons, Josh Bodell and his wife Taylor of Leslie, Michigan and Chase Vahoski of Buffalo; one daughter Hailee Vahoski of Buffalo; one brother Russ Bodell of Onondaga, Michigan; two sisters, Debbie Hanks and her husband Jim of Pleasant Lake, Michigan and Karen Bodell of Grass Lake, Michigan, and two grandchildren Hadley and Brooks Bodell also of Leslie, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother Kenny Bodell.
