Ronald Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Voss & Sons Funeral & Cremation Services on Jan. 8, 2026.
Ronald Wesley Davis, 91, of Seymour, Indiana, lately of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday morning, December 30th.
Ron was born on November 14, 1934, in Johnstown, PA, the son of Herbert and Celia (Diehl) Davis. On June 22, 1958, he married Nancy Bruner, who passed away on September 9, 1980. In 1981, Ron married Janice Emily, who survives at their residence in Florida.
Along with his wife, Ron is survived by his four children, Mary (Allen) Heindel of Celina, OH, Ronald Wesley II (Denise) Davis of Ripon, CA, Andrew (Bonnie) Davis of Seymour, IN, and Dawn (David) Funk of Alpharetta, GA. He is also survived by his two step-daughters, Belinda (B. James) Emily of Shutesbury, MA; and Christena (Brian) Shand of Rotonda West, FL. Ron is also survived by his grandchildren, David (Gayle) Heindel, Peter (Brittany) Heindel, Stephen (Sarah Marie) Heindel, Matthew (Sarah Esther) Heindel, Philip (Minda) Heindel, Ronald Wesley III (Ary) Davis, Rachel Davis, Nancy Davis, Jesse Davis, Hannah (James) Arvey, Madelyne (Kody) Morrison, Halle (Josh) Young, Macy Funk, Jeffrey (Taylorann) Shand, and Emily Shand. Ron is also survived by 26 great grandchildren. Three of his precious pre-born great grandchildren are in heaven already having met and greeted their great-grandpa upon his arrival.
Ron is also survived by two families and their children who were very near and dear to his heart. Gustavo and Iveth Vasquez and their daughters, Marcegui and Jepsa, who became granddaughters to Ron and Jan, sharing in their lives and home in the most loving and heartfelt way. One of Ron's great joys was to serve with Gustavo's ministry at Iglesia Bautista El Calvario, Seymour, as bus driver, nursery worker, and assisting in any way possible to further the ministry to the Latino congregation.
Carlos and Gloria Guzman, since their marriage, have been cherished loved ones having shared in Ron and Jan's lives as family. Many happy times, joy and laughter have been experienced with them and their children, Elisama and Elias. They are so loved.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, along with his siblings, Theda Davis, Dale Davis, and Betty Katausky.
For all his life, Ron lived life to the fullest, using his time and energies to provide and care for those he loved. After moving to Arizona with his parents at the age of 11, he also spent time in California during his teen years. At 18, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and LORD and soon traveled to Indiana to attend Ft. Wayne Bible College where he met his first love, Nancy. After serving in the U.S. Army where he learned airplane mechanics, Ron and Nancy married. In 1964, they felt called to the mission field and joined Wycliffe Bible Translators, serving in Brazil until 1968. After returning to the U.S. they spent three years in Arizona, then moved to Seymour, IN. In 1976, Ron started RWD Service, Inc. Sadly, Nancy passed away in 1980, and in 1981, Ron married Janice Emily. Over the years, his business and family grew. Ron provided a wonderful home and even put in a pool for all of them to enjoy as they gathered every summer. In 2015, Ron and Jan purchased a home in Florida and spent much time there, moving down permanently in 2025.
Ron will be remembered for many things: his love for the LORD and the Gospel, family, aviation and flying, photography, and always trying to "fix" things and make them better. He was organized and purposeful in everything he did, wanting to use all his resources to the fullest. He was always so generous to his family, telling them he'd help them as much as possible as long as possible, and he always did. His greatest pleasure was to give to those he loved.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, January 31, 2026 at Voss and Sons Funeral and Cremation Service, 316 N. Chestnut Street, Seymour, Indiana. Friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers that fade, loving memorials that could impact eternity for many souls can be made to Wycliffe Bible Translators or Iglesia Bautista El Calvario c/o Calvary Baptist Church in Seymour, IN.
