It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ronald "Big Ron" W. Gruver, who left this world on July 2, 2025, at the age of 75.
Born on April 25, 1950, in Montgomery, Pennsylvania, Ron's journey through life was marked by dedication, passion, and a love for the outdoors.
Ron was a devoted husband to his wife of four years, Suzie, and a father to his two sons, John Edward Gruver and Ronald Madison Gruver. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Linda Bower. His family was his pride and joy, and he took immense pleasure in sharing moments of laughter and love with them.
Throughout his career, Ron served as an Administrator of Transportation Statistics for the State of Florida. Earlier in life, he pursued his entrepreneurial spirit by running Big Ron's Knife Sharpening at the Lakeland Flea Market, where he also showcased his craftsmanship in making custom knives and leather goods. Ron held a deep love for nature, evidenced by his passion for fly fishing and bass fishing. He enjoyed meticulously tying his own flies, which was a notable aspect of his fishing endeavors. Ron's adventurous spirit also extended to hunting, and he cherished the many memorable experiences he shared with friends and family in the great outdoors.
A strong leader in his community, Ron dedicated numerous years to being a Boy Scout Leader, fostering a love for nature and leadership skills in young minds. He was an active member of Faith Baptist Church in Winter Haven, Florida, contributing to his community and finding strength in his faith.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ron's remarkable life at 11:00am, Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Winter Haven, FL.
Private interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Mongomery, PA.
His legacy of kindness, strength, and commitment to family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. In this time of loss, the family appreciates your thoughts and prayers as they navigate the profound impact of Ron's absence in their lives. His spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to cross his path.
