Ronald James Hackett
Ronald James Hackett, age 72, of Harborcreek, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024 following a long illness. He was born in Erie on March 24, 1952, son of the late Kenneth and Josephine Hackett.
Ron was a 1970 graduate from Iroquois High School. He worked at Hammermill/International Paper for 31 years. He then worked for Roberts Trucking until his retirement. Ron was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and a charter member and active with the East Erie Moose Lodge #593. Over the years, he enjoyed snowmobiling, motorcycle riding and boating. He especially enjoyed dirt racing at many of the area race tracks and watching old movies including Andy of Mayberry and Star Trek.
Ron is survived by his wife of 51 years, Deborah Hackett; two sons, Christopher (Holly) and Jason (Susie) Hackett; two close friends, Dan Maxim and Rick Cypher, who passed away January 23, 2024; one brother, Roger (Lori) Hackett; two sisters-in-law, Linda Hackett and Joy Cypher; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Hackett; and two sisters, Sylvia Carrier and Rosalie McFarland.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brevillier Village who took such great care of Ron during his time there.
At the request of Ron, private arrangements are being handled by the Dusckas Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Nursing Services, 7 Park St., North East, PA 16428 or Faith Lutheran Church, 5414 East Lake Road, Erie, PA 16511.
