Ronald John Harvey, 87, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, in Roswell, New Mexico. Born on Christmas Day in 1937 in Liverpool, England, he was the son of James and Alice Maude Harvey. He was the beloved husband of Brenda, who he married on July 25, 1959, in New Ferry, Wirral, England. He immigrated to the U.S. with his young family in 1967, and after enduring five long, cold winters in New Hampshire, he made his way out west and happened upon Roswell, where he fell in love with the warmth and sunshine of New Mexico (and, of course, his beloved Mexican food and green Chile). While his children were growing up, hardly a weekend went by without the family setting out to travel and camp together, exploring the landscapes of America, Canada, and Mexico. Known as "Papa" by those who loved him, he had a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors and could often be found tending to his flourishing yard and garden. He was never happier than when sitting outside his motorhome, enjoying the peace of a camping getaway. He spent his life as a dedicated mechanic and businessman, with a love for motorcycles and cars that kept him hands-on - even rebuilding a transmission just last year. During his years in New Mexico, he became the Dallas Cowboys' biggest fan, sporting team attire and rooting for them season after season. Papa will be missed by his family and friends for his carefree attitude, unforgettable one-liners, boundless love for life, and the way he was always on the go, embracing every moment. Ron is survived by those who loved him most: his children Lorraine Lisotto (Anthony), Carole Graves (Tol), and Neil Harvey (Kelly); his grandchildren Christine, Tanner, Tristan, Liam, Brady and Gavin; his siblings Ray Harvey and Sheila Lay (David); and a cherished extended family of nieces and nephews. He is remembered fondly alongside those who went before him, including his wife of 42 years Brenda, her parents Roger and Joan Sanderson, his parents James and Alice, and his brother James Harvey. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Enhabit Hospice for the compassionate care and support given to Ron and our family during this time, especially Yvonne and Elvira. As Ron wished, there will be no formal services, but in his memory, the family encourages donations to the local Humane Society, honoring his lifelong care and the love he had for neighborhood cats who brought him much joy and companionship.
