Ronald Hoffman, age 89, of Kentwood passed away into the arms of his loving Savior on August 13, 2024.
Ronald was the son of Andrew and Muriel Hoffman. He grew up on a farm in Hudsonville, MI and graduated from Hudsonville High School. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. In 1958, he married his high school sweetheart, Mardella Schamper. He attended both Ferris State University and Hope College.
Ron's incredible work ethic and problem-solving capabilities were developed from his early years of working on the family farm. He had a mechanical mind and could fix anything. Those skills served him well in his 35 years of working at Consumers Energy as a lab technician, where he was responsible for testing and repairing equipment in power plants and substations.
Ron and Mardella moved to Zeeland, MI in 1966, where they resided for the next 50 years. This was where they raised their three daughters and enjoyed life in a small-town community. Ron was happiest putzing in his barn, tending his vegetable garden, or working on a car project.
Ron is survived by his daughters: Amanda and Donald Fowler, Elizabeth and Gary Byma, and Tracy and Eric Lanning; his grandchildren and great grandchildren: Max and Kiarah Fowler (Ivy), Jacob Fowler, Maggie and Jordan Veltema (Cora and Quinn), Aaron Santucci and Alice Darling, Stuart and Ally Lanning, Gabe Lanning, and Charlie Lanning. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mardella, and his brother, Jim.
Ron was a former member of First Reformed Church in Zeeland and current member at Hudsonville Reformed Church.
Interment will be in Blendon Township Cemetery with a family service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association. www.yntemafh.com
