Ronald F. Kiel, 85, of Indianapolis, passed away on June 14, 2025. He was born on October 31, 1939, in Indianapolis to the late Harold and Florence Kiel.
Ron was a devout Catholic and a graduate of Sacred Heart Catholic High School. He was a dedicated parishioner at Nativity Catholic Church and Saints Francis & Clare of Assisi. He was a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus and a proud member of UA Local 440, Plumbers and Pipefitters Union.
He enjoyed boating, traveling, and spending time in Florida with Vivian, his beloved wife of 65 years. Ron loved playing bocce and watching sports, especially cheering for the Colts and IU Hoosiers. He was a faithful supporter at countless sporting events and band competitions for his six grandchildren over the years.
A Master Plumber and Unlimited Licensed Mechanical Contractor, Ron was the successful owner of Kiel Plumbing & Heating. He concluded his career with Dunlop Mechanical, designing and managing projects at Cummins Engine in Columbus, Indiana.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Vivian I. Kiel; children Michael (Tami) Kiel, Stephen (Jo) Kiel, and Eve (Doug) Alexander; grandchildren Alex (Tara) Kiel, Ashtyn (Cory) Crawford, Austin (Katie) Kiel, Aaron (Carolyn) Kiel, Brandon (Melissa) Kiel, Lauren (Jacob) Anderson, Henry (Stephanie) Alexander, and Emma Alexander; 14 great-grandchildren; and siblings Bettie Jackson, Maurice Kiel, John Kiel, and Andrew Kiel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Kiel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025 at Nativity Catholic Church, 7225 Southeastern Avenue, Indianapolis, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Greater Indiana Chapter, http://alz.org/indiana.
