Ronald “Ron” Duane King of Fulton, MI passed away peacefully at his home on December 9, 2025, at the age of 83. He was born on June 13, 1942, in Ypsilanti, MI, the son of Woodburn and Doris (Hazell) King.
Ron was a 1960 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School and was part of the final class to graduate before the school divided into Loy Norrix and the new Central High School. Shortly after, he proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964. He was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict and carried great pride for his service throughout his life.
In his younger years, Ron enjoyed bowling at Blue Crystal Lanes and Sunset Lanes. As time went on, he became a devoted spectator at Continental Lanes while supporting Tracy in his games. He later discovered a love for golfing and could often be found watching football, golf, tennis, and baseball from the comfort of his recliner. Ron also took great satisfaction in mowing and caring for his large lawn and lived each day with a spirit of enjoyment and appreciation for life.
Ron loved his dogs deeply and cherished the many canine companions who shared his home over the years. He also graciously tolerated his wife’s cats and horses, always with a sense of humor.
On June 6, 1981, Ron married the love of his life, Suzanna Lahner, in Kalamazoo, MI, and together they built a life filled with devotion, partnership, and family.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Woodburn and Doris King.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Suzanna King; his son, Tracy King; his daughter, Mindy (Mike) Sims; his grandchildren, Matthew (Alisha) Gibson, Megan Sims, and Mikala (Thomas) Shilton; his great-grandchildren, Caleb, Brooklyn, Lance, and baby Shilton expected soon; and his brother, Rex (Carolyn) King.
Ron will be remembered for his humor, his warmth, his love for family, and the simple joys that brought him happiness. His presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
