Ronald Malicki, 86, of Amsterdam passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025.

Born April 6, 1939, in Amsterdam, N.Y., Ron graduated from Amsterdam High School where he met his eventual wife, Virginia. The life he built with Virge was his biggest source of fulfillment. A long-term employee of the NYS Thruway Authority, Ron was dedicated and proud of his career keeping a major state roadway operating smoothly. For those he encountered, Ron always opened his door and was happiest when sharing a slice of his homemade pizza decorated with vegetables grown in his garden. A sports fan, he never gave up on his Cleveland Browns and logged in many rounds of golf at Muni. Perhaps his favorite spectating came when watching his two sons play on various teams, and later, his grandchildren.

Ron is survived by Virginia Sollecito Malicki, his wife of 64 years; his sons John (Margaret) of Loudonville, N.Y., and David (Christine) of Latham, and his six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 9 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 156 East Main St, Amsterdam, N.Y.

Interment will be at St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Amsterdam, NY

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in his name may be made to Catholic Charities of Montgomery County, 1 Kimball St., Amsterdam, N.Y.
