Ronald Allen Marbrey, born to Hughey Marbrey, Sr. and Ellen M. Marbrey (Stewart) November 8, 1942, was a life-long resident of Columbus, Ohio. As a child, he and his family lived in the "Fly Town" section of the city until they moved to Eastwood Avenue in the 1950s. He graduated from East High School Class of 1960-61, and thereafter joined and served in the United States Air Force until honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant in 1968. While serving, he was stationed in Vietnam and Taipei, Taiwan. He noted in his final wishes that his 'special service' in the military he was in a singing group, The Fabulous Ebonys, and played a rather good game of basketball.
Once he returned home, he became engaged and married Mary Evelyn (Jackie) Sims and from that union a son, Ronald Allen Marbrey, II, was born. He worked his entire adult life, including decades of employment with the State of Ohio, principally with Workmen's Compensation. He also was a supervisor at Online Computer Library Center (OCLC). He was especially proud of his work ethic and professional accomplishments (both recognized and unrecognized) and earned numerous awards and certificates of appreciation for his competence and expertise.
In April of 2006 he and Diane Maynus married, and they have a son, Tyrone Maynus. After he retired from State and corporate employment, he was employed at Guardsmark, where he worked until illness necessitated, he was fully retired. Despite his medical obstacles, Ron never believed he was not going to get better someday. Ron kept himself informed of current events and did puzzles. He was as quick with an observation as he was with a joke. He also watched old 1960-70's cowboy tv shows like Hughey, Jr., or 'shoot'em ups' as we called them.
Ron was always meticulous in his dress. He could wear a hat and sunglasses like no one else. He especially loved shoes and always coordinated his shoes with his outfit. At one point he considered opening a shoe store specializing in unique and colorful shoes. In latter, years when everyone was healthy, he and Diane spent Christmas holidays with family at his sister Bessie's house where everyone would play board games and he and Bessie and Buster would watch sports on tv.
Ron (Ronnie to his family) is preceded in death by his parents, siblings: brother - Charles L. Marbrey, sister - Bessie Marbrey Rush, and brother - Hughey Marbrey, Jr. Ron leaves to cherish his memory his wife Diane, sons Ronald, II and Tyrone (Renota), grandchildren Kamryn Marbrey and Brycen Marbrey, sisters Janetta (Jan) Marbrey, J.S.C. and Sheryle (Cuddy) Marbrey-Yarbrough (Charles Yarbrough). He also has nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wealth of friends that morn his passing. There were many people who visited him during his hospitalizations, they are recognized here and sincerely thanked
If Ronald Allen Marbrey could say one thing right now besides "I love you", we bet it would be "Whoop-dee- do!"
Humbly submitted by the Marbrey/Maynus Family.
