Myers, Ronald W. AMSTERDAM Ronald W. Myers, 81, of Snooks Corners Road, Amsterdam, passed away at his home Saturday, January 11, 2014. Born in Albany August 15, 1932, he was the son of the late Cornielus and Cecilia Merryman Myers. Mr. Myers was a meat cutter for more than 30 years with the Grand Union and Star Markets. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean period aboard the USS Darby 218 as commissary man 3rd Class from September 1951 to August 1955. He was also a member of the New York State National Guard for many years. He was a life time member of the Mohawk Valley Arts and Wood Craving Association, where he was a very active member. Other hobbies included hunting and fishing. He was predeceased by his first wife, Alice Lawson, and later Elizabeth Krausse Myers; two sons, Lawrence and Dennis Myers; one brother, Art Myers; and one sister, June Paley. Survivors include four sons, Ronald Jr. (Bonnie) Myers, James and Bruce Myers, all of Pattersonville, Chad (Alison) Myers of Sharon Springs; one daughter, Lisa (Lincoln) Macintosh of Amsterdam; 24 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Also three brothers, Cornielus Myers, Doug Myers and Thomas Myers; and one sister, Mary Ellen DiTonno. Funeral services will be held 5:30 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2014, at De Stefano Funeral Home, Rt. 5-S, Amsterdam, with the Layman Kenneth Aucompaugh officiating. Calling hours will be 1 to 5:30 p.m. prior to services. Spring burial will be in the Van Vechten Cemetery, Pattersonville, with military honors.
