Ronald Davy Nelson, 78, of Robeline, LA, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Natchitoches Parish Hospital. He was born on January 8, 1946, in Robeline, LA, to Luther and Aline Nelson.

Ronald was a man of many strengths- his strength of commitment to hard work and his strength of devotion and love to his family.

Ronald never shied away from difficult tasks. He spent his life working diligently to achieve many milestones. He graduated from Marthaville High School in 1963. He was an outstanding athlete and excelled in basketball and track. He went on to become an accomplished deer hunter with high precision accuracy. He was also a good fisherman with quite a few great catches over the years. One of his greatest joys was being an avid outdoorsman. Ronald also put in extra effort and determination to achieve a career of 30 years at Con-Agra Poultry Company as the Fleet Maintenance Manager.

He was fiercely loyal and protective of his family and always put those needs first and foremost in his life. He loved being a Husband to Fran, a Daddy to his girls, and a Pa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was extremely proud of his family and spending time with them were some of his most cherished moments. Ronald was an honorable and kind man who was revered and admired by all who knew him. The impact he made on the lives of his family and friends will be everlasting. He will be missed immensely.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Aline Nelson; his sisters Mary Laroux, Johnnie Marie Johnson, Syble Gray, and Janet Price; and his brother Donald Nelson.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 60 years, Fran Doolittle Nelson of Robeline, LA; his beloved daughters Lisa Nelson Williams (Clay) of Leesville, LA, and Kristi Nelson of Lafayette, LA; his treasured grandchildren Paige Gosnell (Daniel) of Inman, SC; Bradford Colbey Martin (Casey) of Lafayette, LA; Bonnie Williams Sherman (William) of Bossier City, LA; Cain Nelson Martin of Natchitoches, LA and Bailey Williams of Leesville, LA. He also leaves behind three precious great-grandchildren: Russell and Serenity Martin (children of Colbey and Casey Martin), and Valor Gosnell (child of Paige and Daniel Gosnell). Ronald is further survived by his siblings Mabel Bachelor of Highland Home, AL; Vera Priest (J.R.) of Troup, TX; Sandy Ramirez (Johnny) of Mineola, TX; Trudy Nelson of Honoraville, AL; and Dean Nelson (Pat) of Marthaville, LA; his sister-in-law Connie Doolittle Powell (Maurice) of DeRidder, LA, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends, who also mourn his passing.

Visitation will be on Monday, January 6, 2025, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A service honoring his life will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lambert Town Cemetery in the Robeline-Shamrock community.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Bradford Colbey Martin, Cain Nelson Martin, Clay Williams, Dr. William Hey, Terry Nelson, Michael Nelson, Edward Lanham, and Maurice Powell.
