Ronald Elgin Oswald, Jr., 61, of Midland, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away Friday, December 20, 2024 after a short battle with cancer. Ron was born December 22, 1962, in Midland, son of the late Ronald and Lydia (Brownell) Oswald. In October of 1999 Ron became a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 692 of Bay City, Michigan and was employed with J. Ranck Electric of Mt. Pleasant for most of those years. He earned several awards during his employment and developed many lifelong friendships.
He married the love of his life, Kimberly Florey on May 21,1986 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Kim survives him. Together they raised 4 children. Ron enjoyed music, playing guitar and refurbishing old trucks. Ron was a very gentle man and was always making people laugh, his sense of humor will be missed by all.
In addition to his wife, Kim, Ron is survived by his children, Sam Oswald of Toledo, Ohio; Nathan (Yura) Oswald of Midland, Doug (Kosha) Oswald of Piqua, Ohio and Kaylynn (Kenny) Tester of Midland; 7 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Carol (Greg) Chambers, Nancy Angus, Norma (Darin) Alderton, and Kelly Oswald. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Ronda (Chuck) Peters and brother-in-law John Angus.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on December 23, 2024 at Smith-Miner Funeral Home with Darin Alderton officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00pm – 7:00pm on December 22, 2024 at Smith-Miner Funeral Home and from 10:00am until time of service on Monday.
