Ronald L. Paugh, age 94, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2023, after several weeks of declining health holding the hand of his beloved wife Marion.
Ron was a long-time resident of Hudson and Stow. He graduated from Bedford High School, attended Kent State for one year, then enlisted in the U.S. Army. Trained as a radio repairman, Ron was attached to a Marine Corp Division during the Korean Conflict that saw considerable action. Upon discharge, he married Marion in 1952 and attended Case Institute of Technology graduating with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering.
Ron spent his professional career as an illuminating engineer and lighting specialist for General Electric working primarily at Nela Park. During his 30 years with GE, Ron designed systems for roadways, sports arenas, agriculture applications, and airport runway lighting including aircraft carrier pilot guidance systems. As a Technical Services Manager, Ron developed product literature, wrote product warranties, and present several technical papers as a Fellow of the illuminating Engineering Society. Ron's last project prior to his retirement was as coordinator of the lighting system and fixture design for the relighting of the Statue of Liberty on July 3, 1986, after its three years of darkness for repairs.
Ron and Marion traveled extensively in their Airstream trailers and were active in the Wally Byan Caravan Clubs in Akron and Cleveland. Ron went from local Chapter officer to International officer attending the annual international rallies with several thousand other Airstreamers. They hosted several local rallies at their home on six acres on Valley View
Road in Hudson with up to 25 "silver bullets" parked on their front lawn. They included their four grandchildren in many of their travels throughout the US and spent the winter months at Travelers' Rest Resort in Dade City, Florida, with their many friends.
Ron was a member of the Hudson Garden Club, Knights of Columbus, and a member of St. Mary's choir for over 50 years.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marion (Papes); daughter and son-in-law, Debora and John Moore; daughter in-law Barbara Paugh; grandchildren Patrick "PJ" Moore (Kayla), Jennifer Tai (Christopher); Brian Moore (Megan) and Peter Paugh (Aimee); and 5 great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Sadie, Aiden, Sophia and Alaina. He was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Mildred Paugh, brother Donald (Patricia), sister Mary Ann Clement-Alverez, and son Robert "Peter" Paugh.
The family will receive friends 2-4 PM Sunday, July 16, 2023 at Johnson-Romito Funeral Home, 19 East Main Street (On The Square), Hudson, OH (330) 650-4181. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 Am Monday, July 17, 2023 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 340 North Main Street, Hudson. Interment will follow at Markillie/St. Mary Cemetery. www.johnsonromito.com

Always remember Ron (and Marion)´s kindness to us by letting us use Airstream Courtesy Parking at their home in 1991 when we were taking our son, Tucker, to Notre Dame for his freshman year..

Always wished we had met them sooner!

Rest in peace, Ron. Bet you are making sure that the moon and stars are properly illuminating the earth!

We met Ron and Marion through Aitstream Courtesy Parking at the Hudson home. We were taking our first-born son, Tucker, to his freshman year at Notre Dame in 991 and needed a place to park our Airstream for the night en route. Ron and Marion graciously received us. We never forgot their kindness nor Ron´s connection to the Statue of Liberty.
Sadly, we lost touch over the years and only today (4/6/2024) did we learn via his obit that Ron had gone to his heavenly reward.

To Marion and family, our deepest sympathy and loving thoughts.
