Ron was born on March 15th, 1951 to Arthur and Velma Penrod in Provo, Utah. As a boy, Ron enjoyed participating in Boy Scouts, working at his family's bottling company, and being with his brothers. Ron took pride in caring for his parents from a young age. Ron graduated from Highland High School in 1969. He then joined the Utah National Guard per his father's wishes. That summer, he went to basic training at Fort Bliss in Texas. As a young adult, Ron enjoyed cool cars and had some nice ones over the years. He also had close friends with whom he frequently reminisced.
Ron started working for Mountain Fuel as a meter reader. He worked his way up in his company, becoming a specialist. During his years working, he met many amazing people, and he retired from Questar Gas at the age of 50. He held a few other jobs after that, and everywhere he went, he shone a light upon everyone around him.
Ron loved camping, fishing, trains, golfing, and metal detecting for treasures. He enjoyed any time he could spend with his children and grandchildren. Ron married Julie in 2005 and had many great adventures together, but as his health started to decline they enjoyed their Sunday car rides, which they called their mini vacations. They loved their yard and working together to make it beautiful. He never missed out on any time he could spend showing those around him his knowledge and gentleness.
Ron returned home to his king Jesus with family by his side on October 28th, 2024 after a valiant fight from all that life threw at him. He never wavered and was always the strong man we all knew him to be. He is survived by his wife, Julie (Ford) Penrod; siblings, Mary Ellen Scott and John Willie (Ann) Penrod; 5 children, Shane Penrod, Shannon (Todd) Crooks, Brian (Teasha) Penrod, Nathan (Amy) Penrod, and Anthony (Lindsey) Penrod. As well as his step children on Julie's side, Ian (Melissa) Sandgren, Jacob Sandgren, Lucas (Bonnie) Sandgren, Jesse (Cassie) Sandgren, William Sandgren, Bobby Sandgren, and Bethany (Nathan) Mellott. He also had 47 grand children, and 13 great grands. As well as countless others he loved as family. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, his brothers Byron, Sam,
and Charlie. And his grandson Zachary.
Everyone who knew Ron knew his love and warmth. He touched countless lives with his thoughtfulness and gentleness. He loved everyone fearlessly, especially his wife. He will be deeply missed.
"And the Lord said come with me my son, I know you are tired of fighting. Take my hand and follow me to my kingdom. Your time to rest is now, your soul has been released. Let the angels sing your name as the trumpets ring out. For you are home now as it is time to release yourself from the pain. I love you my son, do not be afraid."
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 7th at 11am in the Grove Ward Church
building. The address is 455 E 200 S Pleasant Grove, Utah.
