Ronald Wilbur Plude of Avon, 87, beloved husband of Kathleen (McCarthy) Plude, passed away at Avon Health Center on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 following a short illness. Born to the late Alice and Wilbur (Buster) Plude, Ron was a lifelong Avon resident. A devoted father and grandfather, Ron leaves his daughter and son-in-law Tammy and Scott Kozlak; daughter Tracey Lydon; grandchildren Nicole Kozlak and her fiancée Brandon Simmons, Jake Lydon and his partner Skylar Pakus; Emilee Lydon; and his cat Christopher. He also leaves his sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Philip Thomas, nieces Sara Sobuta Kavitsky and Amy Sobuta Phillips and their children; as well as several cousins, including Larry Bailey who was like a brother to Ron and worked with him in the plumbing business.
Ron owned Valley Plumbing and Heating and was a skilled tradesman, helping to build the family's cottage in Becket, MA. Ron enjoyed watching and playing sports and always loved a good game of golf. He was a talented cook, his specialty being stuffed clams and clam chowder, Rhode Island style. And he took after his father and grandfather before him in hosting a hearty New England clambake for many years. A former member of the Avon Volunteer Fire Department, Ron was also a member of the Prince Thomas of Savoy, a.k.a. the Italian Club in Avon.
Services will be private. A celebration of Ron's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of Ron's favorite charities: the VFW (heroes.vfw.org), the American Heart Association (heart.org), or the Humane Society (humanesociety.org).
