Ronald "Ron" Dennis Rivas, Sr. 74, passed away unexpectedly on February 28, 2022 in Las Vegas, NV. He was born May 7, 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa, the only son of Magdaleno and Edith Rivas.

Ron attended East High School in Des Moines, where he met the mother of his five children. Ron's work ethic was renowned, not only in his career, but also to his family, friends, and members of his longtime church, St. Anthony's in Des Moines. Rarely did a person need to ask for his help, as he had most likely already volunteered. Ron's life was a commitment to service, his faith, his children, family, and friends who mourn his passing.

Ron's retirement years were spent traveling. His visit to the Holy Land was one of his most important memories. Crisscrossing the US allowed him to enjoy the freedom of retirement and those great open spaces, while enabling him to spend time across the country with his children and grandchildren, who were his great joy.

He is survived by his children, Ronald Jr, Steven, Christine, Anthony, and Sarah; nine grandchildren, his loving sisters, and extended family.

Visitation will be at Brooks Funeral Care, 2135 SW 9th Street in Des Moines on Thursday, March 10, 2022 from 5-7:30 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Friday, March 11, 2022 at St. Ambrose Cathedral followed by interment at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
