Mr. Ronald Preston Rogers, 85, life-long resident of the Paint Lick Community, passed away on Tuesday evening, August 27, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on February 22, 1939, the son of the late George Ballard Rogers and Arzelia Butner Rogers. After graduating high school, Mr. Rogers joined the military where he served his country faithfully in the US Army stationed at Fort Knox. He was a life-long cattle and tobacco farmer who looked forward to spending time on his farm with the cows. For many years, he enjoyed being a letter carrier for the US Postal Service, serving in his home community of Paint Lick.
Survivors include: his wife of 62 years, Marilyn Tudor Rogers; his children, John Ballard Rogers (Canaan), Charles "Charlie" Preston Rogers (Rita), and Ann Carol Rogers Wilson (Brent); his grandchildren, Presley Rogers-Rich (Austin), Johnna Rogers (Tommy Walston), and Riley Rogers; one great-grandchild, Josie Rich, and one more on the way; his sister, Ruth Metcalfe; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: one grandson, Hayes Preston Rogers; and one sister, Betsy Metcalf.
Mr. Rogers was a hard working man who never met a stranger and while he always looked for ways to have fun, he was a dedicated family man who cherished the time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was a member of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.
Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Friday, at the funeral home.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, August 31, 2024, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond, with Bro. Butch Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in the Manse Cemetery at Paint Lick.
Pallbearers will be: John Ballard Rogers, Charles "Charlie" Preston Rogers, Brent Wilson, Riley Rogers, Austin Rich, and Austin Tudor.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jimmy Davidson, Jimmy Tudor, Bill Smith, Kathy & Jeff Hume, Tommy Walston, and Ed Brents.
