Ronald Victor "Ron" Shickle

Ronald Victor "Ron" Shickle, 87, of Winchester, VA, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Winchester Medical Center, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Ron was born in 1936 in Winchester, VA, son of the late Carl and Audrey Shickle. He was a graduate of John Handley High School. Ron was a veteran of the Army National Guard, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was owner/operator of Shickle's Food Mart. After selling the grocery store Ron became a Realtor and pursued Land Development until his retirement. Ron was a former member of Winchester Elks Lodge and the National Guard. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Ron enjoyed hunting, gardening, and loved his family. He was a faithful friend and thought the best of everyone.
Ron married Anne Spiker on December 27, 1955 in Hagerstown, MD.
Surviving with his wife is a daughter, Kimberley Dian Shickle Meyers (Jay) of Winchester, VA; grandchildren, Calvin Scott Meyers (Kerry), Leslie Anne Meyers Stover (Brad), Kathryn Elaine Meyers Neal (Jared), Rebekah Diane Meyers DesMarais (Marc); great grandchildren, Calvin, Jared, Walker, Audrey, Owen, Madelynn, Camden, William; step grandchild, Ainsley DesMarais; and brother-in-law, Frank Leslie Spiker of Bunker Hill, WV.
Along with his parents, Ron was preceded in death by a son, Carl Brunk Shickle, III; sister, Doris Mae Shickle McKee; and brother, Carl Brunk Shickle, Jr.
A visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm on Friday, January 12, 2024, with a service to follow at 1 pm at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Steve Melester. Interment will be private.
Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Meyers, Calvin Meyers, Walker Meyers, Jared Neal, Jared W. Neal, and Marc DesMarais.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brad Stover, Audrey Saunders, Camden Saunders, Madelynn Stover, Owen Neal, and William Neal.
In lieu of flowers, because of Ron's love for cats, memorial contributions may be made in Ron's memory to SPCA, 111 Featherbed Lane, Winchester, VA 22601 or Esther Boyd Animal Shelter, 161 Fort Collier Road, Winchester, VA 22603.
