Ronald Thomas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John N. Santeiu & Son, Inc. - Garden City on Aug. 26, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Age 87.

Beloved former spouse and friend of Burnadette Thomas. Loving father of Michelle (Gary) Linden, Danielle (Tom) Wilhelmsen, and Dana (Jeremy) Sterner. Cherished Papa of Julia Linden, Jenna Linden, Austin Wilhelmsen, Josh Wilhelmsen, Ashley Wilhelmsen, and Alex Kaczmarek. Dear brother of the late Fr. Norm, Polly, and Ray. He was very dearly loved and will be deeply missed. His family takes comfort knowing he is reunited with his beloved Dog, Scamp.

Anyone who knew Ron knew his deep love for animals, unwavering pride in the Marine Corps and unforgettable sense of humor. At his retirement in 2011, Ron was honored for being the longest-serving Animal Control Officer (ACO) in Michigan, dedicating an incredible 45 years to the City of Inkster and its animals.

Ron was a proud and devoted member of the American Legion, BOVA, and Devil Dogs. He cherished spending time with friends, participating in countless events that celebrated and honored the Marines.

One of Ron's greatest passions was his 1973 Volkswagen Beetle, which he proudly showcased at every car show he could attend. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched – both human and animal – and in the community he served with loyalty, compassion, and humor.

Visitation Thursday, September 04, 2025 2-8pm with a 7pm Rosary at the John N. Santeiu & Son, Inc., 1139 N. Inkster Road, Garden City (between Ford Road and Cherry Hill).
